Sri Lanka's conflict in quagmire
The Sri Lankan army says the separatist war in the north and east of the country has reached a turning point. Air attacks and mortar strikes are routine and the military feels sustained pressure for some months will see the defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
