Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Tuesday said that he is confident of his DMK government retaining power in next year's assembly elections in the state. He said 2026 polls will see part two of the DMK's Dravidian model. AIADMK general secretary and Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition, Edappadi K Palaniswami meanwhile has launched a fierce attack on the ruling party, accusing the DMK government of multiple governance failures, on various fronts from law and order to liquor menace. Remember AIADMK has already announced an alliance with BJP, and next year's elections are going to be crucial for the future of both dravidian parties. Till now both the DMK's gloating over its achievements or the AIADMK's criticism of it have been on predictable lines - no attacks on each other on corruption, very little use of data-driven campaigns, and more importantly the same old political rhetoric. The question here is -- Will anti-incumbency help the NDA trump the DMK next year or will the DMK manage to repeat its electoral performance of 2021?
