Suicide By Medical Aspirants Revives Demand To Abolish NEET
The suicide by at least two medical aspirants in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh over their failure to crack the mandatory entrance exam NEET for medical admission has revived demands to abolish the exam in Tamil Nadu. Till two years ago, Tamil Nadu had abolished the entrance test for medical admission, arguing poor children from rural areas can't afford private coaching unlike students from cities. However, pro-NEET groups say that would dilute medical education.
