Sunny Deol's Appointment Of Proxy Representative Upsets Voters In Gurdaspur

A month after winning the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat, BJP lawmaker and Bollywood actor Sunny Deol courted a controversy by appointing a local representative to take care of issues in his absence in his constituency. The parliamentarian faced a lot of flak from the opposition leaders after a formal letter announcing the appointment did the rounds of social media. Though Sunny Deol clarified on Twitter by saying that he has merely tasked his personal assistant to attend the issues of constituency in his absence, the recent development has not gone down well with the voters in Gurdaspur. The new appointee Gurpreet Singh Palheri has many similarities with his political boss. Like Mr Deol, Mr Palheri has also cut his teeth in the world of cinema as a professional screenwriter and is not from the constituency. NDTV tried to track down Gurpreet Singh Palheri but he refused to come on record to speak on his new role.
