Supreme Court Asks Centre To Take Stand On Freebies In Polls
The Supreme Court has noted that the announcement of freebies by political parties during the run-up to elections needs to be controlled, and has asked the Centre to take a stand. The court was hearing a plea seeking to direct the Election Commission to not permit political parties to promise or distribute irrational freebies from public fund.
