The Supreme Court on Thursday said no more cases can be filed against Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin over his remarks on Sanatana dharma without its permission. The order came during a hearing on Mr Stalin's petition, in which he sought the consolidation of multiple first information reports (FIRs) filed against him in many states. Udhayanidhi Stalin in September 2023 compared Sanatana dharma to diseases like "malaria and dengue". He also advocated for its elimination on what he claimed were grounds that it was rooted in the caste system and historical discrimination.
