Supreme Court suspends mining in Bellary

In a very significant order, the Supreme Court has suspended all mining operations in Bellary. A committee constituted by the Supreme Court said systematic failure has led to massive environmental damage in the area. The court now wants the Karnataka government to take responsibility of restoring the area.
