Supreme Court To Hear UP's Appeal Against Reservation Order Today
The Supreme Court will today hear a petition by the Uttar Pradesh government against an Allahabad High Court order quashing its draft notification on urban local body elections and directing it to hold the polls without reservation for other backward classes. Under political fire from the Opposition that has called the ruling BJP in UP "anti-OBC", the Yogi Adityanath government has announced that the elections will be held only after giving reservations to OBCs.
