The downward trend in India's coronavirus cases continues as 55,342 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours taking the country's Covid tally past 71.75 lakh. While Kerala is seeing the highest percentage increase in cases, though, as the state government emphasises, the death rate is low at 0.35 per cent while the national average is 1.53 per cent.
