Days ahead of the Swachh Bharat campaign's third anniversary, hundreds of volunteers came together to take part in a cleanliness drive in Rishikesh. A special Ganga clean-up was held in Rishikesh, around the Lakshman Jhula area which is home to many ashrams and is frequented by thousands of pilgrims and tourists every day. The clean up along the banks of the Ganga river was done to spread awareness as part of the Swach Bharat Abhiyaan. It was organised by Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh's largest ashram and covered the areas most popular with pilgrims, from Laxman Jhula to Ram Jhula. The drive saw many students, women sanitation ambassadors, residents and tourists joining in.
