Mohammed al-Bashir, has been appointed prime minister of Syria's new transitional government on Tuesday. He has said it is time for people to "enjoy stability and calm" after the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad. The former head of the rebel administration in the north-west has been tasked with governing until March 2025 by the Islamist militant group Hayat Tahir al-Sham and its allies. On the other hand, former South Korean Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun has attempted to end his own life while in custody.
