Disabilities are not just physical, they can be intellectual or developmental too which creates limitations in cognitive functioning, social skills and adaptive behaviour. This means tasks like chopping vegetables or zipping your trousers, which are often taken for granted, can be a massive challenge for people with intellectual or developmental disability. Children at the Tamana Education Centre are from different levels of the intellectual disability spectrum. Based on their capacity to learn, they are taught functional life skills and multi-sensory activities in addition to academics.
