Chennai is one of the very few cities in the country that can boast of a vibrant drama scene. Despite the onslaught of Tamil cinema, English theatre and television soaps, Tamil drama has survived. Although the traditional sabhas no longer host plays in Chennai, theatre buffs have ensured that all the fifteen professional troops in the city thrive.
