Tamil Nadu tribals seek recognition
A first generation M Phil degree holder from the malai vedan community is wasting her talent doing daily chores. The reason -- for many years, the authorities have stopped issuing community certificates to them for want of proof of their tribal background. Her father and forefathers were hunters till a few decades ago. Now hundreds of children too have dropped out of schools to take up work as daily labourers.
