Parliamentarians from Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were today detained as they tried to march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence, demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh. 19 MPs were detained and taken to a police station; the police said the lawmakers could leave if they wanted to, but were denied permission to head towards the Prime Minister's residence.
