Not long ago, the BJP government in Karnataka banned the use of hijab in classrooms on grounds that educational institutions must follow a secular approach, an order upheld by the Karnataka High Court. Days later, the BJP government in Gujarat that said it is planning to introduce the Bhagavad Gita into the school curriculum from the current academic year - a move which the Karnataka government too said it is contemplating.
