Telangana split: Seemandhra backlash
A day after the Union Cabinet gave its nod for a separate Telangana state, protests erupted across the Seemandhra region and parts of Andhra Pradesh saw a virtal shutdown. Three Union ministers too resigned. But with a majority of Andhra Pradesh's 250+ MLAs opposed to the move, is this the beginning of the realisation of Telangana's dream of statehood? And will the move, that many are calling opportunism by the Congress party, help the UPA combine in the upcoming general elections next year?
