Whether it's on campuses or in the social media, the public discourse is getting radically compartmentalised. The recent violence in Ramjas College followed by a bitter Twitter troll against Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of an Army soldier, for taking a stance that is against the current grain of 'hyper nationalism' has brought forth the whole debate of patriotism onto the surface. Is the discourse being dominated by either the Ultra Left or the Hyper Nationalists? Are the voices of the silent majority - who abide by Constitution but support freedom of speech with reasonable restrictions - being drowned amidst the cacophony of the two extreme groups?
