500 and 1000 rupee notes are scrapped starting today in a crackdown on fake currency and black money. The Prime Minister assured people, "Your money remains yours"; After PM's announcement, for the next 72 hours, government hospitals, railways, airports, crematoria and milk booths will accept 500 & 1,000 notes; The new 500 and 2,000 rupee notes will be issued from Thursday by Reserve Bank; Banks across the country shut today. ATMs will not work on Wednesday and might not work in some places on Thursday as well.
