Climate change, global warming and receding glaciers have had a dire effect on the water resources in Ladakh. Local innovator, Sonam Wangchuk has devised a clever way to ration the water supply in winters and use it in the summers. The grand ice stupas or artificial glaciers are now storing 1000s of liters of water, without making use of any fuel or energy and supplying it to nearby villages for irrigation and personal use.
