The unclaimed "Maoist" leader
Of all those killed in the Bijapur encounter, the case of Irpa Somulu has come to typify why the encounter has become so controversial. Somulu has been described as the biggest naxal leader to have been shot dead in the encounter; as proof, the police says his was the only unclaimed body, typical of Naxals who have no fixed address. But NDTV was able to access his wife and children, and find he was not the sole casualty in the family.
