The Year That Was: Bihar Liquor Ban
As we come to the end of 2016, we are looking back at the big stories that made headlines. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made it a key poll promise but when he actually banned alcohol in the state, many were surprised by just how tough the law was. It was struck down by the Patna High Court but the Nitish government brought in an even tougher law where the entire villages and towns can be punished if someone is found with alcohol.
