Economist Thomas Piketty spoke exclusively to NDTV's Prannoy Roy on the economic repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic. Mr Piketty said that one of the big lessons from his book 'Capital and Ideology' is that the determinants of economic policies and the determinants of social inequality across societies are much more political and ideological in nature. He further added that he doesn't believe in a deterministic approach to this changing reality of the inequality structure but rather on the importance of political mobilization and how people react to new challenges, like the one we have today.
