Tightrope Walk For France As Emmanuel Macron Meets Israel President, PM
French President Emmanuel Macron today met Israel's President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and called for the international coalition fighting the ISIS to be expanded to also fight Hamas after the October 7 attacks on Israel. All major western leaders have met the Israeli heads of state. The full-scale ground attack on Gaza Strip is yet to begin. France will need to walk a tightrope as it has both a huge Jew and Muslim population, and Mr Macron's policy on Israel will likely influence domestic politics.
