Time For Law Against Mob Killings?
A united opposition took on the government as the Upper House debated the recent spate of mob killings. The government said these were criminal incidents, and not communal and that swift action has been taken in each case. Meanwhile, an anti-lynching law 'MASUKA' or the 'Manav Suraksha Kanoon' proposed by rights activists and members of the civil society has become a focal point of opposition unity. Is this the time to enact a new law to curb mob lynchings?
