Tirupur exporters exploring untapped markets
Exporters in the knitwear garment exporting town of Tirupur in Tamil Nadu, are now exploring opportunities in other foreign markets. This comes after retailers in the US and the European countries shutting down outlets owing to the credit crunch. "We contribute about 1.5 per cent to the world’s exports and even if we increase that to 2.2-2.5 per, it would be about three to four times of what other countries are exporting," said Sanjay Gupta, chairman, Kishore Apparels.
