To Tackle Coronavirus, India Needs To Ramp Up ICU Beds, Ventilators: Experts
According to rough estimates, India has 30,000 to 40,000 working ventilators, which experts say will be very inadequate in case there is a surge in coronavirus or COVID-19 infections. In nearly 5 per cent of cases worldwide, patients with acute breathing problems needed hospitalization in intensive care units (ICU). In Italy and Iran, the healthcare systems have have been overwhelmed with high volumes of patients who need intensive care.
