Tripura is gearing up for elections later this week and the ruling communist party's tribal cadres are busy in electioneering. It's election time in the northeast and the focus is on Tripura, ruled by the communists for 25 years. Much of the credit lies with Left's support base in the tribal areas, where this time, BJP flags have managed to find place. The BJP and its alliance partner, the IPFT has made serious inroads in tribal areas turning this election into perhaps the toughest poll battle that the left faced in Tripura.
