Union Home Minister Amit Shah on February 14 said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ended the 'Maan ki Doori' between the northeast and rest of the India. While speaking to ANI, he said, "There is peace in the Northeast region today. Our government has signed agreements with a number of militant groups. Northeast region which was earlier known for blockages, bandhs, bomb blasts and insurgency is today getting road, rail and air infrastructure. In the span of less than 8 years, PM Modi has visited the Northeast 51 times. Since independence, no PM has visited the region at this frequency. Every 15 days one of the ministers has to visit the region. The acceptance for the people of the Northeast has increased in the country. PM has ended the 'Mann ki Doori' between the Northeast and the rest of India. People from the region truly feel that they are respected in other parts of the country and people from the rest of India should be respected in the Northeast. In the last 9 years, the local languages of the Northeast have strengthened, even primary education being imparted in the regional languages. BJP government has strengthened the identity of Northeast."
