In an incident stemming from a land dispute in Hinauta village in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, two women were nearly buried alive when gravel was dumped on them from a dumper truck. The women, Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey, were buried up to their waist and neck in a pile of gravel. They were eventually rescued by locals using shovels, though one woman lost consciousness and required medical attention. The confrontation happened when a road construction project in the village sparked protests. The women said the land was leased and opposed the construction. However, their objections were ignored, and the situation escalated when the dumper driver, allegedly on orders from local strongmen, dumped gravel on them.
