Russia Ukraine War: United States President Donald Trump, on February 9, said that he believes America is making progress in its talks to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The president further declined to provide details about any communications he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that it would be too early to discuss. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump indicated that the two leaders had been in contact, which would mark the first officially acknowledged conversation between Putin and a U.S. president since early 2022. Asked whether his conversation with Putin had taken place after he became president on January 20 or before, Donald Trump said, 'I’ve had it. Let’s just say I’ve had it. And I expect to have many more conversations. We have to get that war ended.' Trump also stated that he would meet with the Russian president at the right and appropriate time. It is worth noting that Donald Trump, on several occasions, has promised to end the war, but he has not yet publicly outlined how he would do so.
