Twitter India chief Manish Maheshwari - who had been summoned by the Uttar Pradesh police for questioning over tweets about the assault of a Muslim man in Ghaziabad - has been granted temporary protection from arrest by the Karnataka High Court. The court has reserved orders till June 29. Twitter had initially clashed with the government over the new IT rules, which the US-based social media giant said were against the Constitution. The matter escalated after it tagged tweets by BJP leaders on an alleged "Congress toolkit" as "manipulated media".
