With ocean temperatures rising due to global warming, corals around the Lakshwadeep islands are disintegrating and dying. The graveyard of dead coral brings with it immense problems for the Lakshwadeep islands as coral reefs act as natural brake waters which minimise the impact of waves from powerful cyclones and typhoons.
