As the Union Budget is set to be presented by the Finance Minister on July 23, 'makhana' traders in Bihar's Darbhanga district are seeking the expansion of the business in the town. Since the renowned makhana or fox nut, of the area called 'Mithila Makhana' received the GI tag last year, there has been a boom in the business, which traders hope will continue with the right amount of government support. Traders urge the government to facilitate the installation of more factories which they feel will help increase employment opportunities in the region.
