UPA govt grapples with rising food prices
Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar are battling it out over the soaring cost of food. Chidambaram has told the Parliament and written to the Prime Minister that the Centre should let the states change the Essential Commodities Act. This, he says, will prevent hoarding by capping foodgrain stocks.
