Amitabh Kant, India's G20 Sherpa and former CEO of NITI Aayog, discusses strategies for enhancing India's urban sustainability and resilience. He highlights the urgent need to improve urban air quality, with 42 Indian cities among the world's most polluted. Mr Kant advocates for a nationwide transition to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030, citing their economic benefits and growing consumer demand. He praises India's renewable energy progress, exceeding COP 21 targets with 200 gigawatts generated. In his conversation with Manisha Natarajan, Mr Kant highlights Tata Motors' leadership in electric mobility and the government's policy allowing Tesla to manufacture in India, noting that Tata Motors and Mahindra could compete with Tesla in the Indian market.
