US Immigration Crackdown: Dependents Of Indians Fear Deportation

Kids of H-1B visa holders, brought to the U.S. as minors, are nearing a critical juncture as they turn 21. Once they hit adulthood, they lose their dependent status under their parents' H-4 visas. Previously, U.S. rules allowed a two-year window to switch to a new visa after "aging out," but tighter immigration policies and pending legal battles have cast doubt on whether this safety net will persist, leaving their futures in limbo.  The big question - will they be asked to return to India - a country many have no real association with, if they had gone to the US when they were very young.
