US State Dept: Over 1,000 US Citizens Have Left Lebanon

The State Department says more than 1000 U.S. citizens, permanent legal residents, along with family members, have left Lebanon aboard U.S.-organized flights in the past week as fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified.

The Israeli military says it sent more ground troops into southern Lebanon Tuesday, and that a senior Hezbollah commander was killed in an airstrike. It also says Hezbollah launched more than 170 rockets across the border.
