In 2012, hundreds of rural women in West Bengal began training under the USHA Silai school program, which empowers women through skill training and equal opportunities. By 2017, the program's success caught the attention of the West Bengal scheduled caste and tribe development finance corporation. With the common goal of empowering people at the bottom of the pyramid, USHA and the West Bengal government collaborated on the training of 3,500 women from marginalised communities in 2018.
