Uttarakhand bans construction on river banks
The multi-storied buildings collapsing like a pack of cards continues to be among the most compelling images of the mayhem in Uttarakhand. Now to avoid that sort of random and unchecked development, the state government has decided to not allow any construction along the banks of the river or in the flood plains.
