Uttarakhand is seeing a trail of destruction after record-breaking rain - the highest in seven years. There are cracks on roads and bridges, and hotels have been damaged, with the state suffering losses amounting to over Rs 800 crore. The tourism and agriculture sectors - the biggest contributors to the state's economy - are the worst hit. Farmers in areas in and around Haridwar are staring at massive losses after over 8,000 hectares of farmland was inundated. They have demanded compensation from the government.
