VD Savarkar: Veer Or 'Maafi'veer? - Row Over Rahul Gandhi's Comment
Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's criticism of Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar over mercy petitions to the British Raj, Congress partner and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today said his party - the Shiv Sena faction that he leads - has "immense respect" for VD Savarkar. The remark created controversy with the BJP and VD Savarkar's grandson Ranjit Savarkar lashing out at Mr Gandhi.
