President-elect Droupadi Murmu was a "very bright student", one of her childhood classmates from Odisha remembers fondly as her village, Uperbeda, in Mayurbhanj district, prepares to celebrate her oath ceremony tomorrow. Ramchander Hemaram told NDTV that President-elect Murmu was also the monitor in Class 6 and 7 at their village school. "She would intervene when students quarrelled," Mr Hemaram said. "She was a born leader," he said.
