It has been raining in Odisha for the past few days due to the effect of a low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to heavy rains, normal life has been disrupted with rivers and streams overflowing due to rain. Many villages have been cut off. Due to the rising water level of rivers and streams, the villagers living on one bank of the river are facing a lot of difficulties in buying daily necessities. People are risking their lives to cross the river on rainy days. Banspal block is one of the tribal dominated areas of Keonjhar district of Odisha. There are many villages in this block which have been cut off with the main road due to heavy rain. To access, ration shops, schools, hospitals which are on the other bank of the river, villagers have to cross the river to get ration and children who go to school have to walk about 3 kilometers.
