Paris News | Violent Clashes Erupt Between Riot Police And Migrants During Paris Eviction Violent clashes broke out between riot police and migrants in Paris on Tuesday during an eviction operation at the Gaite Lyrique Theatre. Footage shows police officers, equipped with shields and helmets, using tear gas and forcefully pushing migrants and protesters as smoke filled the area. According to police, at least 46 people were arrested, and nine were injured during the operation. Over 400 migrants, many claiming to be minors in need of permanent housing, had been living in the theatre for over three months. The eviction began at 6:00 local time (5:00 GMT) after police dispersed a protest in support of the migrants. The migrants had moved into the theatre in December after receiving free tickets to a conference titled "Refugees Welcome in France." The theatre has reportedly cancelled shows and faces bankruptcy, putting around 80 jobs at risk.
