As controversy grows with Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and BSP chief Mayawati raising questions over EVM tampering in the Punjab and UP elections, the Chief Election Commissioner S Nasim Zaidi speaks in this exclusive interview to Shekhar Gupta. He says EVMs have no internet connectivity, which is why they are not amenable to hacking. He adds that it was ludicrous to suggest that pressure could be bought to bear on the Election Commission. He also talks about VVPAT (Voter-verified paper audit trail) and how it can be a game-changer in upcoming elections from now on. Mr Zaidi believes that election commission of India is undoubtedly secure and fair.
