It was a time when nobody wrote books on cricket; there were only a few books written by Test cricketers. At that time, one young journalist quit his well-paying job to write for the love of cricket.
After struggling to get interviews and find a publisher for his writings, Gideon Haigh finally published his first book titled The Cricket War: The Inside Story of Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket, in 1993.
