"When governments change sometimes ambassadors also change, there is nothing in this. It is government's prerogative, I have nothing to say about it," replies the outgoing Nepal's ambassador to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyay in response to a question if this was the Nepalese government's response to his visit to the Terai region. Although he claims that the Nepalese President's visit has only been suspended for now and not cancelled, he does regret the decision. He concedes that internal politics have caused a rise in ultra-nationalism which gives rise to awkward situations. He also says that there is no question of opposing India because of the economic blockade and China can never replace India as its favoured partner in its path to progress.
