If variety is the spice of life, then the Calcutta North-East parliamentary constituency is likely to provide the spice to the general elections in West Bengal, what with over 10 lakh voters spread over a large area which includes Chinatown, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity and even the CPI(M) headquarters at Alimuddin Street. But for an area as large this, issues of basic amenities take precedence over stability.
