Despite the efforts of the nuclear community in India, the home of Homi Bhabha, the father of the Indian nuclear programme, is auctioned off in Mumbai. The Maharashtra Chief Minister had wanted the sprawling house to be declared a national monument, but the national centre for performing arts which owns the building has managed to go ahead with the auction and has picked up a whopping Rs 372 crore, funds which it says are needed to revive the arts in India.
